My mother’s memories: Mother’s day special

Feliz dia das mães para todas as mães do Brasil e do mundo!! Hoje é dia das mães em vários países do mundo e resolvemos fazer um post em homenagem a todas as mães inspirado no post que a Paula fez com os looks antigos da mãe dela.

Happy mother’s day to all the moms in the world! Today people celebrate mother’s day in many countries, so we decided to make a post to honor all mothers (inspired in the post that Paula did with her mom’s old looks).

Para fazer esta homenagem, tivemos a ajuda de algumas amigas que nos mandaram fotos das suas mães quando eram jovens. São fotos lindas e que mostram o estilo de cada uma na época. O detalhe é que as mães não sabem do “roubo”das fotos…

To make it possible, we had a help from some of our friends who sent us old pictures of their moms. All beautiful images that represent perfectly the style of the time.

Primeiro de tudo: amei o cabelo!! Talvez porque seja parecido com o meu haha! A camisa dentro da calça alta estilo blusê (como diz a minha mãe) está demais!

First of all: loved the hair!! Maybe because it looks like mine haha! Tucked in x-large shirt: lovely!

Vestido Casamento Mae

Morri com o vestido! Era para um casamento de dia. Como todo mundo sabe, depois do casamento da Lady Di no início dos anos 80, as mangas bufantes estavam presente na maioria dos vestidos de noiva da época. Garanto que muitas das nossas mães que casaram nessa época usaram vestidos assim… Eu acho incrível! Adorei o modelo curto com um pouco de transparência!

Almost died of an heart attack when I saw this picture LOL!  It was for a wedding day. As everyone knows, after Lady Di’s wedding in the early 80s, puffed sleeves were present in most of the wedding dresses of the time. I guarantee that many of our mothers who married at that time used dresses like this … I think it’s incredible! Loved the short version with a little bit of transparency!

Essas últimas duas “polaróides” são da minha mãe. São fotos que vão desde os seus 16 até os 20 e poucos anos. Dá pra ver que ela era adorava (e adora) moda, não? O mais legal é que a maioria dos looks estão super na moda agora. Se qualquer uma de nós colocasse umas dessas roupas e saísse na rua ninguém ia achar estranho! Bem que eu gostaria que isso tudo continuasse no armário dela para eu poder roubar!

These last two “polaroids” are of my mother. These photos are from when she was 16 to 20 years old. You can see that she loved (and still loves) fashion, right? The coolest thing is that most of the outfits are super trendy right now. If we wear some of these clothes nowadays no one would find it strange! I wish she kept it all in her closet so I could steal!

Um belo dia fuçando uns álbuns de fotos esquecidos aqui em casa, encontrei as fotos da lua de mel da minha mãe.

Estilo Mae

Minha mãe contou que tinha o costume de mandar fazer muitas das roupas que ela usava naquela época. Adorei ver como ela tinha o domínio das cores e usava os acessórios de maneira tão harmoniosa!

My mother told me that most of her clothes were made by a tailor. I loved to see how she was able to coordinate well the colors and accessories!

Dava até para fazer um editorial de moda com essas fotos!Não é?

O legal é ver como a moda de alguns anos atrás ainda pode muito bem ser usada nos dias de hoje. Até porque minha mãe não é assim tão velha!haha, mas o que eu quis dizer é que muita coisa que está em alta hoje com certeza já foi tendência há algum tempo atrás!

The cool thing is to see how the fashion from a few years ago may very well still be worn today. Especially because my mom is not so old! Haha, but what I meant is that a lot of what’s in today certainly has been a trend some time ago!

Agora é torcer pra ter os genes do estilo!

Eliza Doolittle

A dica de hoje é de estilo e música.

Today’s tip is about style and music.

Eliza Doolittle é uma cantora inglesa e confesso que uma das minhas cantoras preferidas. O cd dela, “Rollerblades” é daqueles que eu gosto de absolutamente todas as músicas. O estilo musical dela é tão único e diferente quanto o seu estilo para se vestir.

Eliza Doolittle is an english singer and I confess that one of my favorite singers. Her cd “Rollerblades”, is one of those which I absolutely love every song. Her musical style is so unique and different as her style to dress.

Ela usa muita, muita cor, shorts e saias de cintura alta e tá quase sempre de tênis.

She wears lots and lots of colour, high waisted shorts and skirts and she’s almost always in tennis.

Eliza Doolittle Estilo

Eliza sempre fala em entrevistas que veste roupas que a fazem se sentir feliz, por isso as cores. A cantora admira o estilo da Lady Gaga e Chloë Sevigny, mas garante que não tenta copiar ninguém, que gosta de ser única.

Eliza always says in interviews that she wears clothes that makes her feel happy, that’s why the colors. The singer admires the style of Lady Gaga and Chloë Sevigny, but says that she doesn’t try to copy anyone, she likes to be unique.

Eliza Doolittle Estilo

Um dos motivos de eu gostar tanto do jeito que a Eliza se veste, é porque eu tenho um pouco de dificuldade em usar cores e estampas, então gosto de me inspirar no estilo dela.

One of the reasons I like the way Eliza dresses is because I have a little difficulty in using colors and prints, so I get inspired by her style.

Hart of Dixie STYLE

Para quem não conhece a série, Hart of Dixie está na sua primeira temporada. A protagonista da série é a Rachel Bilson, a Summer do The OC.

For those not familiar with the series, Hart of Dixie is in it’s first season. The protagonist of the series is Rachel Bilson,  Summer from The OC.

A série é sobre uma médica que descobre que durante sua vida inteira sua mãe mentiu sobre quem era seu pai verdadeiro. Depois de sofrer uma desilusão amorosa e não conseguir o emprego dos seus sonhos ela se muda de Nova York para Blue Bell, uma cidadezinha do interior do Alabama com costumes bem tradicionais.

The series is about a doctor who discovers that during her lifetime her mother lied about who was her real father. After getting her heart broken and not getting the job of her dreams, she moves from New York to Blue Bell, a small and very traditional town in Alabama.

Um dos pontos altos da série é o estilo da Zoe:

O estilo dela é uma das coisas que a faz diferente de todos na cidadezinha, reforçando seu status de outsider.

Her style is one of the things that makes her different from everyone on town, reinforcing her outsider status.

Outra personagem que chama atenção pelo seu estilo é a Lemon,  suuuuper clássica, tradicional e feminina:

I JUST WANT MY PANTS BACK!

E ai gente! Hoje quero falar um pouco sobre uma série que eu comecei a assistir e simplesmente amei! Principalmente porque os personagens tem um estilo muito marcante! A sérei se chama “I just want my pants back”,é um dos seriados da MTV americana e conta a história de 4 amigos. Eles moram todos em Nova York, no Brooklyn e a série mostra um pouco a vida de cada um e como eles lidam com os problemas do dia a dia.

Hi everyone! Today I want to talk about a serie I started watching and simply loved it!Mainly because the characters have a very striking style! The serie is called “I just want my pants back,” it’s one of the MTV series and it’s the story of four friends. They all live in New York, Brooklyn and the series shows a little bit of the life of each of the characters and how they deal with the problems of everyday life.

Pra começar tem a Tina (Kim Shaw), que pra mim tem o estilo mais legal! Ela se veste com peças que normalmente você não pensaria em colocar juntas, mas que ficam super originais e criam um estilo bem despojado.

For starters there’s Tina (Kim Shaw), which to me has the coolest style! She wears pieces you would not normally think to put together, but they’re very original and create a stripped style.

Ela abusa de roupas com aquele ar “detonado”, com lavagens diferentes, rasgos e buracos,blusas largas e aí vai! Ao mesmo tempo ela combina alguma peças mais românticas ou mais “arrumadinhas”, como rendas, batas e paêtes, tornando o seu outfit nada óbvio!

She abuses clothes that look “blown”, with different washes, tears and holes, loose shirts and so on! At the same time she combines romantic pieces, as lace and sequins!

Stacey (Elizabeth Hower), é uma estudante de direito, tem um estilo meio preppy, misturado com anos 50.

Stacey (Elizabeth Hower), is a law student, she has a preppy style mixed with 50’s.

Jason (Peter Vack) é o típico garoto indie!Fofo, magrinho, cara de novinho, que está sempre de skinny jeans, T-shirt, camisa xadrez, e tênis! Beeeeem óbvio, mas é a caraa dele..

Jason (Peter Vack) is the typical indie guy! Cute, skinny, baby face, who is always in skinny jeans, T-shirts, plaid shirt, and sneakers! Waaaay obvious, but it is greattt ..

E last but not least, Eric (Jordan Carols), o namorado da Stacey, estudante de medicina, todo certinho, está sempre com seus óculos de grau Wayfarer, camisa xadrez.

And last but not least, Eric (Jordan Carols), Stacey’s boyfriend, medical student, is always with his Wayfarer and plaid shirt
